Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey is a Malayalam film that you can watch on OTT, dubbed in Hindi, at Disney Plus Hotstar. The film is directed by Vipin Das and was released on October 28, 2022. Even if you are a Bollywood movie fan or a Telugu movie buff, try this gem from Malayalam cinema.

I primarily enjoy watching Bollywood films, but I occasionally indulge in some South Indian films as well. However, Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey is entirely unique in its own right. It’s definitely going to change your whole perception. It exemplifies the transformation of a simple idea into a well-crafted script.

Overall, Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey is a shocker. It made me wonder what the director might have been thinking when he decided to make such a film. The story-telling is exceptional. I guarantee that after watching this film, you’ll want to see more from Malayalam cinema. The film is a slap at the male chauvinism that has existed in our society to date. After watching the first 20 to 25 minutes of the film, you will have no idea where the story is headed. But after that, you’ll have a blast.

Here’s a short synopsis about this newly released film, Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, from Malayalam cinema. It has Basil Joseph (Rajesh) as the male lead and Darshana Rajendran (Jaya) as the female lead. Rajesh’s family is actively searching for a suitable match for his marriage. Rajesh runs a small poultry farm. The Jaya family is like any other conservative family in India, where daughters have limited access to education and freedom.

Somehow, their marriage got fixed on their first meeting. As is often the case, during this meeting, Rajesh exudes an air of arrogance, assuming the role of the “Ladka wala.” After the marriage, Jaya moves into Rajesh’s family house. Rajesh still seems to be very stubborn (rough and tough) in front of his newlywed wife.

Jaya, on the other hand, is very polite and submissive. She tries to adjust to the new setting. She makes every effort to earn Rajesh’s trust. However, Rajesh consistently displays stiffness and continues to confront her over trivial matters. Rajesh’s mother tries to console her daughter-in-law, saying that his son is kind at heart and will get better as a husband.

As time progresses, the same events begin to recur daily. Whenever Jaya does something against Rajesh’s wishes, he will slap her. Finally, she confides in her father about her husband’s mistreatment of her. However, her father responded by telling her to conform to Rajesh’s will and wishes. This is how our society operates. After all, these little things happen in each and every family.

With no sign of relief and nowhere to turn for help, Jaya decides that it’s too much to bear. Now it’s payback time. She starts practicing martial arts by watching YouTube videos without anyone’s notice. Soon, she master’s the art of self-defence. The next day, when Rajesh comes home for lunch, he, in a state of anger, snatches Jaya’s mobile. To his surprise, his wife delivers a kung fu punch that knocks him out.

This is the point at which the story begins to turn interesting. The female power confronts the male ego. Then, the family drama, societal humiliation, and court scenes that follow will keep you in your seat. Not to forget, the ending is phenomenal.

All age groups can enjoy this conservative light comedy feature film. Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey is a complete family entertainer. For a change from the regular Bollywood masala movies, watch this Hindi-dubbed Malayalam cinema.
